With the new school year on the horizon, preparing for that first day back can be overwhelming, we’re here to help. Our back-to-school checklist is designed for students ranging from junior kindergarten through grade 12. We spoke with a few teachers about how you can mentally prepare your child for the first day - here’s what we heard;

1. Establish Routines Early: Transition from summer to school routines by adjusting bedtimes, meal times, and other daily activities.

2. Promote a Positive Attitude: Speak positively about school and teachers. Highlight the exciting and fun activities that will take place.

3. Encourage Daily Reading and Play: Make reading a daily habit and engage in educational activities like board games to stimulate learning.

4. Discuss Bullying: Have open conversations about bullying. Teach your child how to recognize it, stand up against it, and seek help from trusted adults.

5. Explore Tutoring Options: If your child needs extra help in certain subjects, consider looking into tutoring services to provide additional support.

6. Sign Up for Extracurricular Activities: Enroll your child in after-school programs or extracurricular activities to help them develop new skills and interests.

7. Set Up a Study Space: Create a dedicated, quiet area at home for your child to do homework and study.
