At September 4th ’s Bank of Canada meeting, it was announced that the key interest rate would be decreased by 0.25%. This brings the bank’s consumer Prime Interest Rate down from 6.70% to 6.45%. See below for an example of how this change impacts variable rate mortgages:

🍺🍷 Convenience Stores in the BoQ/PEC are now selling wine, coolers, and beer
Fill up the tank, maybe some Hawkins Cheezie’s and grab a… pack of Twisted Tea? It’s been talked about for months, and now a TON of the convenience stores in the area have gone live. Please check out our post for all the locations with active licenses per the AGCO website.
🚓 There’s a New Chief in Town
Belleville Police Service appoints Murray Rodd as Chief and Sheri Meeks as Deputy Chief. Rodd, with 35 years in Peterborough Police, and Meeks, with 28 years in Belleville Police, bring extensive experience. They aim to enhance community safety and build on existing police-community partnerships starting September 16. More here.
🚐🦷 Mobile Smile
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is launching a mobile dental van to serve rural areas in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Operating twice a week, the van will offer dental hygiene services, with potential dentist services in the future. Staffed by a dental assistant and hygienist, it will also support community outreach events.
😷 Dust off Your Mask When Visiting Quinte Health Services
Quinte Health reinstates mandatory masking in patient-facing areas from Sept. 3 until spring 2025. Masks are required in emergency departments, clinics, waiting rooms, diagnostic imaging, and inpatient units. Non-patient care areas are exempt. Symptomatic individuals should mask up at the entrance and avoid visiting patients. Full story here.

🍂Fall Folk Festival

📍 Brambleberry Farm, Quinte West
It’s the first-ever Fall Folk Festival at Brambleberry Farm. They’ve got a scarecrow competition, wagon rides, live folk music (some great artists from the area!), and a cozy campfire with s’mores. This family-friendly event supports the Quinte West Youth Center, making it a perfect way to have fun and give back to the community.

Jacqueline Staikos: Mélange will be on display in Gallery 1 from September 7 to October 9, 2024. This retrospective features her mixed media paintings, showcasing her evolution since her first solo show in 2003. The opening reception is on September 7, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.
