One Million. Thatās how many tonnes of limestone Picton Terminals is being accused of illegally excavating out of Picton Bay without a provincial license. The charges stem from a private prosecution initiated by four local residents, who claim the company has been operating a quarry under the guise of port improvements. The limestone reportedly sold for $50 million. The Ontario Court of Justice in Picton will hear the case on March 7. Full story here. Picton Gazette
Black Bear Ridge
Remember when Black Bear dropped that huge announcement a few years back? If not, long story short, the #72 nationally ranked golf course was acquired in 2021 by new owners, with massive plans to change things up. Those plans include everything from a clubhouse, spa, and resort, to up to 3,049 residential units. Essentially itāll be a fully serviced four-season resort-style community spanning 370 hectares. When is that going to be, you ask? We donāt know, but The developers of Black Bear Ridge are hosting a community meeting on January 30, from 6-8 p.m. at 501 Harmony Road, Corbyville, to present the preliminary Master Plan and Draft Plans for the Black Bear Ridge Village development and gather feedback. Check out Black Bearās site here.
Proposed Camp On West Lake
A public meeting in Prince Edward County discussed the proposed Campfire Circle, a new summer camp at 565 Wesley Acres Road in Bloomfield/Hallowell Ward.
Campfire Circle is a charity camp designed to provide free overnight programs for children battling cancer and other serious illnesses. With on-site medical support, kids can enjoy activities and experience a supportive environment while undergoing treatment.
Some concerns were raised about placing the camp in an environmentally protected area and the development needed to support such a large group. The application will now be reviewed by council with a staff report to follow. Full story. QuinteNews

Restaurant Of The Week! (Reader Recommendations)
This new segment caught lots of attention last week, so weāre keeping it. This weeks reader recommendation comes from a new reader, Rob G. He wanted to highlight a Belleville lunch hotspot that he frequents. This is what Rob had to say about Flossieās Sandwiches.
Flossieās absolutely crushes it with their sandwiches. The Greasy Caprese is one of my go-to sammies on my lunch break. Just a heads up, go on an empty stomache. Theyāve got tons of different options, you really canāt go wrong. And donāt forget to check out the side dishes if youāre really hungry.
