🗳️ The Bay of Quinte By-Election

The Bay of Quinte by-election on September 19 will fill the seat vacated by former MPP Todd Smith. Candidates include Tyler Allsopp (Progressive Conservative), Sean Kelly (Liberal), and Amanda Robertson (NDP). Both Allsopp and Kelly are Belleville City Councillors taking leave to run for the provincial position. The Picton Gazette has more.

💵 2025 Belleville Budget Guidelines

Belleville Council kicked off 2025 budget planning on Monday, approving guidelines based on public surveys. Key priorities: doctor recruitment (58%), long-term care (34%), and road/sidewalk maintenance (34%). User fee hikes for dog tags, pools, and more got the nod. Tax rate increases are capped at 5%. 🐾🎉 New Executive Director Announced on International Dog Day

On Monday, just so happens it was also International Dog Day, Kareen McKinnon will join the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward as the new executive director on September 3, replacing Marilyn Lawrie.
