Bellevilles Potential Housing Boost

The City of Belleville's Planning Advisory Committee discussed the Residential Intensification Project, which aims to amend the Official Plan and zoning by-laws to allow up to four housing units on a single residential lot. The project includes initiatives to reduce barriers for ground-oriented housing, expand permissions for accessory dwelling units, and align residential zoning along key road corridors. The committee awaits feedback from the public and approval for the federal Housing Accelerator Fund. More here.

🏠 PEC Community Partners plans 7,500-home Ontario development

PEC Community Partners at Base31. This project will transform a former WWII airbase into a mixed-use community with 7,500 homes, including market-value and affordable rentals. The development will feature various housing types, retail, restaurants, and recreational areas. The first phase includes a 120-unit mid-rise apartment building. The project aims to respect the site’s historical significance while addressing local housing needs. More here.

🎁Christmas Sharing Program

Registration for the Christmas Sharing program started Monday. This initiative supports families and individuals in Belleville and surrounding areas with Christmas Food Hampers or Grocery Gift Cards. Eligible families can also receive toys from the Belleville Firefighter’s Toy Drive for children under 10. Apply in person at 199 Front St., Century Village, 2nd floor, from 10 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday, until November 29. Bring photo ID, proof of address, and income.

We had friends attend the soft launch, and they described it as tavern fare with an enthusiastic nod to nostalgic home-cooking, meant to be enjoyed with friends. The space looks beautiful, in typical county fashion, and the food has to be good because it’s brought to you by the folks from Bermuda PEC (Bloomfield). This leads us to the next announcement…
