🩺 New Psychiatrist Joins Quinte Health

Belleville just scored a big win in the fight for better mental health care. Dr. Katherine McArthur is officially joining Quinte Health, thanks to the City of Belleville’s Doctor Recruitment Program.

With one in five adults experiencing mental illness, her arrival couldn’t come at a better time. Dr. McArthur, known for her compassionate approach, will support Quinte Health’s mental health team. Responding to a critical shortage, The City of Belleville has implemented one of the most successful physician recruitment programs in the province, attracting more than 50 physicians and eight nurse practitioners.🔗 Read more here. Links to Learning is currently seeking volunteers to assist with their one-to-one reading program. This program runs Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 to 6:30pm.

Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors is seeking volunteers to assist with Reception duties. Time commitment is 3 hours/week. Duties include answering phone, directing calls, and general office duties. Orientation is provided and staff support is readily available. 

St. Leonard's Community Support, Prevention, and Residential Services is seeking board members to assist with governance of the organization.  Experience with Finance/Accounting, Governance, Communication/PR, and/or Human Resources would be an asset to the existing Board of Directors.

🌳 Quinte West Seeking Input on Parks & Rec Plan

A public open house is set for Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Trent Port Marina (4-7 p.m.), inviting residents to share feedback on Quinte West’s draft Parks and Recreation Master Plan. 🏗️ Quinte West Construction Boom 

January saw 48 permits issued worth $6M, up from $1.9M in 2024. Nine permits for new residential builds will add 17 housing units across the city. A strong start to the year.

PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY

🏡 More Studies Needed for New PEC Subdivision

Prince Edward County council is pumping the brakes on the Cold Creek Subdivision near Waring’s Creek, requiring a cumulative impact study before moving forward. Locals are raising water quality and wetland concerns, and the study—expected to take two months—will decide what happens next. More here. (Quinte News)
