👀 More eyes on Belleville streets
Belleville Police are set to broaden their CCTV network with $56,100 in fresh funding from Ontario’s Closed Circuit Television Grant Program. The money will go toward replacing outdated equipment and installing new cameras in high-risk areas—part of the province’s push to curb gun, gang, and trafficking-related crimes. 🪑 Who’s taking Malette’s council seat?
Now that Chris Malette has been elected MP for Bay of Quinte, Belleville council has to decide how to fill his Ward 1 seat. The city will officially declare the spot vacant on May 12, with 60 days to either appoint a replacement or hold a by-election. Mayor Neil Ellis says he’s eyeing former councillor Kelly McCaw to possibly step back in. Read the full update. (InQuinte)

🙌 National Volunteer Week Shoutouts Across the Bay
From hospitals to homes, volunteers are making waves across the Bay of Quinte this National Volunteer Week (April 27–May 3). Prince Edward County is thanking the many locals who give their time to support youth mentorship, over at Quinte Health, volunteers logged thousands of hours across 50+ programs in 2024, and Highland Shores Children’s Aid recognized the 29 board members and drivers who helped support kids and families across the region.

🚧 Road Work Alert in Belleville
From May 1st through May 9th, crews will be applying an asphalt rejuvenating agent on several roads which will cause single lane closures and no parking in affected areas. Find all the details here. (Facebook)

♻️ Belleville’s Curbside Recycling Dates Changing July 22
Starting July 17, Belleville will transition to a new recycling model with Circular Materials Ontario taking over the collection of Blue Box materials. The new system will streamline recycling and waste collection, and will start on July 22. Check out the full story here. (The Intelligencer)
