šŸ˜‹Countylicious Begins Today!

Countylicious 2024 runs from October 24th to November 17th in Prince Edward County. They’ve got prix-fixe menus at over 20 local restaurants, featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Prices range from $20 to $65 and there’s lunch and dinner menus. It’s a great way to savor local flavors and support the community. Check out the FULL list of participating restaurant and menus here. āš•ļø New Clinics to Transform Healthcare Access

Prince Edward County council is excited about a new proposal to establish five neighbourhood clinics in Belleville-Tyendinaga, Quinte West, the County, Centre Hastings, and North Hastings. Barinder Gill of Hastings Prince Edward Ontario Health Team highlighted that 26,400 residents will benefit from improved access to primary care. Supported by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, these clinics aim to provide timely and equitable care, easing the burden on emergency rooms.

🚧 County Rd 49 Rehab

That’s not cheap! The cost to rehabilitate County Road 49 in Prince Edward County has surged to $52.3 million due to increased contingency costs. The 18.4-kilometre project is now slated for consideration in the 2025 budget, pending municipal funding. InQuinte has it all.

šŸ“± Rogers 5G Expansion

If this means that I won’t lose service anymore going up the hill just past Rossmore driving to and from The County, I will switch to Rogers tomorrow. Rogers Communications has expanded its 5G services in the Quinte region of Eastern Ontario. As part of the EORN Cell Gap Project, 32 new cell towers have been activated since May 2024, along with upgrades to existing sites. This initiative aims to improve connectivity for residents, businesses, and visitors in rural areas.

Local Sports

šŸ’ Pete Conacher

The hockey communities in Toronto and Quinte are mourning the loss of Pete Conacher, who passed away at 92. A former Belleville McFarland and Toronto Maple Leaf, Conacher was part of a renowned hockey family. He played for the Leafs, Blackhawks, and Rangers, and had over 600 AHL games. Conacher won gold with the McFarlands at the 1959 World Championships. He also helped establish the NHL Oldtimers group and served as president of the Ontario Chapter of Special Olympics Canada. Conacher is in the Belleville and Ontario Sports Halls of Fame. More here.

Belleville to Host World Junior Pre-Tournament Action

The 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship pre-tournament schedule includes Belleville’s CAA Arena. Team Sweden will face Team Germany on December 23 at 3 p.m. Sweden and Czechia will hold pre-tournament camps at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre from December 12 to 23. Tickets for the Sweden vs. Germany game go on sale October 25 via Ticketmaster, with a presale for Belleville Sens Season Seat Members on October 24. The World Junior Championship will be held in Ottawa, with Canada opening against Finland on December 26 at 7 p.m. Here’s the link to get tickets!
